How to Measure Blood Pressure: A Step-by-Step Guide
Tool(s) used: Adobe Premiere Pro and Audition
This tutorial was created as part of an asynchronous module on measuring and assessing vital signs, developed for my capstone project in my graduate program. It is designed for learners aiming to model the ability to measure blood pressure with 100% accuracy. The goal of the tutorial is to provide learners with a step-by-step guide they can use to effectively demonstrate blood pressure measurement on another person.
Before creating the video, a storyboard was developed to organize key concepts and narration. Accessibility was a key consideration in the design, which is why captions were included to ensure all learners can fully engage with the content. The tutorial incorporates Mayer’s Principles of Multimedia Learning, including the signaling principle (highlighting key components, such as the sphygmomanometer and stethoscope, with on-screen text) and the voice principle (using human narration instead of a computer-generated voice) to enhance learner comprehension and retention.
